You’ll find that there are some voip providers who offer hosted PBX solutions. As everyone knows, hosted PBXes depend on the network connectivity to the host. Unlike web hosting where it’s hosted on a public domain, you’re looking at a private or a virtual private network.
In Australia, the costs have not come down far enough for a hosted PBX solution. It’ll get there eventually.
For small companies, you’re risking alot whereas with your own PBX, you’re able to configure it yourself and manage things.
For larger companies, you certainly want control as before.
Look at it this way, even Web Central’s email servers went down eventually and took more than 4 days to get it up. If your phones went down for 4 days, what do you think will happen??
No hosting please. At least for now.
